Enjoy the beautiful landscape on your way to the Croatian UNESCO World Heritage site – National Park Plitvice Lakes. In only one day you will experience one of the most beautiful natural heritage sites in Croatia along with gaining an interesting insight into the historic importance of the area.
ITINERARY
Morning departure from Zagreb at 8.30 am. An hour and a half drive to the first stop – an idyllic watermill village of Rastoke. It has similar natural phenomena occurring as do the Plitvice Lakes thus it is often referred to as “the Small Lakes of Plitvice”.
You will see the unique structure of well preserved wooden watermills on the waterfalls of river Slunjcica. The village found its place at the foot of the 19th century Napoleon’s army Magazine (storage) since the area of Rastoke was the eastern border part of Napoleon’s Empire. It has an important autochthonous ecologic and ethnographic legacy.
After the tour and coffee in water village Rastoke we are continuing and reaching National Park Plitvice Lakes within 20 minutes drive. The tour of the National Park will take approximately 3 hours and will include hiking along both upper and lower lakes, a boat ride over the big lake and a train ride through park area at the end. You will be able to see 16 green and blue colored lakes arranged in cascades and connected to each other by a series of beautiful waterfalls surrounded by captivating forests and vegetation. It is a unique experience of natural harmony and beauty.
After the tour of the park you are going to enjoy a traditional local lunch in one of the local restaurants. After the lunch we are continuing the trip towards Split and expected to arrive to Split at 7.00 pm.
