Get to know Slovenia, the only European country that unites the Alps, the Mediterranean, the Pannonian Plain and the Karst. Amazingly enough thanks to its geographical and climatic diversity you can, in a single day, pick autumn fruits in the morning, swim in the Adriatic in the afternoon, and go night skiing in the evening.
Get inspired by picturesque Lake Bled and its Alpine backdrop and discover Ljubljana – the European Green capital.
ITINERARY
Morning departure from Zagreb – pickup at the hotel at 8.30 am. Two hour drive towards Lake Bled. It is the famous lake that holds the only island in the country. The emerald-green lake, a picture-postcard church on the island, a medieval Bled castle clinging to a rocky cliff and some of the highest peaks of the Julian Alps make the town Bled simply a postcard perfect. We shall take a walk along the lakeside promenade enjoying the scenic fairytale of reality.
There is even a legend saying that it was the fairies who summoned all the waters from the surrounding mountains to flood the valley and this is how the lake and the island came to be. Afterwards we shall drive up to the town Bled in order to visit the Museum at Bled Castle – the oldest castle in Slovenia that rises up to 130 meters above the glacial Lake Bled. Following the tour of the castle we shall stop for Bled’s famous Cremeschnitte, a cake made according to the original recipe since 1953.
After the sweet refreshment we are heading towards Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia whose charm lays in millenniums of architectural history, its picturesque bridges across the river Ljubljanica and its vast Tivoli park stretching into the very city centre. Ljubljana has preserved evidence of all the five millennia of its history, including the remains of the Roman city of Emona and the old city centre with its medieval castle and beautiful Baroque façades.
After the city tour we are heading back to Zagreb and expected to arrive around 5.30 pm.
Postojna cave visit per request – please note that it is possible to change one of the two destinations in this tour with the visit to Postojna cave, the best-known cave in the world.
